Zafiro Andrade-Romo

Zafiro Andrade-Romo (she/her) is a Mexican feminist lesbian, a Medical Doctor in the tradition of Latin American Social Medicine and has a strong training in Latin American Femininisms. She has a MSc and is a PhD candidate at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (University of Toronto). She has 13 years of experience in LGBTQ+ health and has participated in research projects in Mexico, Brazil, Nigeria, Peru, and Canada. Her research program focuses on the mental health and wellbeing of lesbian, bisexual, trans, and queer women and you can read more about her PhD study – Project DaRE (www.proyectodare.com). Her other research interests include migration, mixed-methods, critical qualitative research and STIs.


She joined the Re:searching for LGBTQ2S+ Health team in September 2019. Zafiro loves trying new foods and snacks, paddleboarding, cooking Mexican food with her wife and playing with her cat Lichi (Spanish for lychee).
