Júlia Clara de Pontes
Julia Clara de Pontes (she/her) is a PhD candidate at the Medical School, University of Sao Paulo (FMUSP), and an International Visiting Graduate Student at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto (2024/2025), working with Professor Lori and her team. With a background in Psychology, Julia has experience in Brazilian Primary Care (SUS), particularly serving transgender communities and their families. Her research interests include LGBTQ2S+ health, health promotion, and community-based research, with a focus on overcoming healthcare inequities.
She completed her MSc in Social Psychology at the University of São Paulo (USP), where she studied how cisnormativity impacts the experiences of transgender high school students. Her current PhD research examines gender-related care for transgender and gender-diverse children and adolescents in Brazil.
In her free time, Julia enjoys having coffee with friends, biking around the city, and reading books outdoors. She also loves connecting with people and spending time with her dog, Noah.
