Ontario C2K Coalition Meeting: Get organized to end poverty in Ontario!

Re:searching for 2SLGBTQA+ Health

(Sharing from Ontario Campaign 2000)

Poverty is on the rise in Ontario: the latest Ontario Report Card on Child and Family Poverty found that child poverty rates increased by 3.5 percentage points in 2022, the highest on record and the largest among the provinces. Furthermore, Ontario's 2022 poverty data shows us that the number of individuals living in poverty was the highest on record.

The Ontario Poverty Reduction Strategy has not addressed the root causes of poverty nor met its goals of reducing poverty across the province. As the strategy approaches renewal this year, this is an important moment to advocate for a renewed commitment and action plan from all provincial parties to end poverty in Ontario.

Join us as we, along with valuable partners, strategize and advocate for an adequate Poverty Reduction Strategy in Ontario.

The coalition meeting will include a presentation on the current state of child and family poverty in Ontario and will include a panel of speakers from:

  • Income Security Advocacy Centre (ISAC),

  • Ontario Coalition for Better Childcare (OCBCC),

  • Workers Action Centre (WAC)

There will be an opportunity to discuss, reflect and share your ideas for the upcoming Poverty Reduction Strategy renewal.
