Re:searching for 2SLGBTQA+ Health

Updated: Jan 7

Here we provide two new fact sheets/resources developed by our team for the Public Health Nursing Practice Research & Education Program (PHN) @phnprep! These resources provide evidence-informed guidance for providers of perinatal care for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals.

Find the guidelines below, or click this link to find the full guideline!

1️⃣ 2SLGBTQIA+ families: Unique perinatal mental health concerns

The resource is to provide an overview of the prevalence of perinatal mental health concerns (PMHC) and risk factors among 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, including non-birthing partners.

2️⃣ Lactation Affirming Practices for 2SLGBTQIA+ Individuals

The resource is to review inclusive and affirming language related to lactation, highlight options available for individuals depending on their parenting role and interest in human milk feeding, review some common assumptions regarding lactation, and give some examples for an affirming care approach in this population.
